One of the more interesting booths that was set up at the Pro Photo Expo last weekend was from DriveSavers. They specialize in data recovery and have been in business since 1985. Whether you need to recover data from a hard drive or some other media device, DriveSavers has developed some proprietary techniques for saving data that is lost due to device crashes, physical damage, and viruses.
To prove their point, DriveSavers had what was left of a laptop that had obviously been burned up and charred to a crisp displayed right in the middle of their table (see the photo above). They were evidently able to recover the data off of this almost melted down computer—pretty impressive!
Some other notes on the company:
- Their turnaround time is 24 to 48 hours.
- They have had the highest recovery success rates since 1985.
- They work on all storage devices and all operating systems.
- Annual data security audits are conducted by certified third-party auditors.
I have not used their services and am not affiliated with the company in any way. However, in talking with the reps and checking out their literature, I am impressed. Obviously, the best way to protect your data is to constantly back it up. But if you’re ever in a situation where don’t have any backup and you need to recover some vital information off of your storage devices, it’s good to know that a company like DriveSavers can potentially help you out big time.
