While other conferences may be searching for a bigger audience and hurting on attendance, Affiliate Summit West continues to flourish with another sell out this past week. Shawn Collins and Missy Ward again put on a spectacular event January 18-20, 2015, at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. ASW 2015 was the ideal event for both beginners and seasoned veterans of the affiliate marketing field to make valuable new contacts, catch up with old friends, get valuable tips from experienced pros, and get a first-hand look at new products and services geared towards making website owners more money.
What’s great about Affiliate Summit is that no matter what type of website you may have, you can find avenues for monetizing your site through some of the many vendors and educational sessions at the conference—and this year’s event was no different. In addition to the usual Exhibit Hall, Meet Market, and Education Sessions that are always held, there were some new additions this year, including a special Affiliate Program Showcase and a special meet up for bloggers that are monetizing their blogs.
For me, the two best education sessions were How to Optimize WordPress like a Super Affiliate with Syed Bahlki and David Vogelphol, and Rise of the Six Figure Blogger which featured the panel of John Rampton, John Chow, Zac Johnson, and Matthew Woodward.
Syed and David went through a number of useful must-have tools for the WordPress blogger. A sample of the recommended tools included:
For Scheduling and Project Management:
Edit Flow for WordPress Plugin
Asana Task Management Tool
For Product Feeds:
For Me to Coupon
Google Keyword Planner
For Effective Social Sharing:
John Rampton served as moderator with the six figure blogger group. All four of the guys gave some great advice along with anecdotes about their own experiences growing their blogs and brands.
Some examples of the topics covered were:
How do you start to get a six figure income?
How do you narrow down your niche?
How frequently should you blog?
What do you think about guest blogging?
Meanwhile, the Exhibit Hall offered bloggers the opportunity to find new products to promote, sign up with affiliate networks to monetize websites, and explore the latest tools to help your website with SEO and web traffic. Of course, the other fun part of attending the exhibit hall is picking up all kinds of free swag. This year, for whatever reason, the giveaway of choice was sunglasses.
The keynote speakers at ASW 2015 included Chad Hymas and Noah Kagan.
I was pleased to see that this year’s conference had additional rooms where people could sit at tables and network with others. Having the additional areas available made the hallways less crowded and moving around easier.
Anyone thinking about monetizing their website (in particular bloggers) should add the Affiliate Summit conference to their agenda. The next event, Affiliate Summit East 2015, will be held August 2-4, in New York. I’m already looking forward to Affiliate Summit West 2016!
