WP iSell Photo
This plugin lets you sell your photos from your blog. However, it is not a substitute for a full-fledged ecommerce system. In fact, I would also not recommend it if the main goal of your site is to sell photos. The plugin just has a few too many limitations. For that reason, I think this plugin is best suited for those photo bloggers whose main interest is sharing their photographic vision online and would like to provide, as a bonus, the ability for their visitors to purchase a copy of a photo as a way of donating to the site. I’m sure you’ve seen some blogs with a donate button. Think of this plugin in that regard.
With WP iSell Photo, you use WordPress’ built in image galleries and connect to PayPal in order to receive payment for your photos. After installing and activating the plugin, you enter your Pay Pal information along with the URL where you want the user to go after a successful payment.
In your post or page, you create your WordPress image gallery and in the shortcode add the price of the photo:
You now get a thumbnail display of your images in your post or page with “Buy Now” buttons.
Now, as far as the limitations of this plugin, there are some big ones. First, you can’t have different prices for each of the photos. Also, you can’t include options for different sizes of prints—again, one size and price fits all. And most significantly, because the plugin uses the WordPress default image gallery, you can’t prevent someone from clicking the thumbnail image to access the full size picture and simply right clicking to save a copy without paying a penny. For that reason, I would recommend only loading lower resolution photos into your gallery, and after receiving payment directing the user to the URL of the high res image.
Despite its limitations, WP iSell Photo does offer an easy, lightweight method of selling photos online. As long as you only need to do so as a side bonus to your photo blog, this plugin might come in handy for you.
